Recover collection meta titles and descriptions overwritten on Shopify

Collections are the forgotten half of Shopify SEO — they rank for category queries, but most backup and SEO tools only track products, so an overwrite of collection meta titles/descriptions usually has no safety net at all.

Step by step

  1. Pause the app or bulk action that edited collections.
  2. Restore collection meta titles and descriptions from a snapshot that explicitly covers collections, not just products.
  3. Re-submit the affected collection URLs in Google Search Console once corrected.
  4. Use a tool that snapshots collection SEO fields daily — not only product fields — so category pages are protected too.
