How to back up your Shopify SEO the right way (before something breaks)

Shopify's built-in tools and most backup apps don't version your SEO fields. By the time you notice an app or bulk edit changed a meta title, alt-text, or redirect, there's no clean state to roll back to.

Step by step

  1. Decide what 'SEO' means for your store: meta titles, meta descriptions, alt-text, tags, handles, and URL redirects — for products AND collections.
  2. Keep a daily snapshot of all of those fields, not just a full-store backup (those usually skip alt-text and SEO metafields).
  3. Get alerted the moment a bulk change is detected, so you catch a bad app run in minutes instead of finding it weeks later in analytics.
  4. Make sure restore is field-level (just the SEO fields) and one click — not a whole-product or whole-store rollback.
